Navy Beans with Sauteed Tomatoes and Garlic



I didn't have any tomato sauce and I wasn't about to open some I canned from the garden. But I had plenty of tomatoes I just picked. Craving a tomato base with my beans, I came up with this recipe. It's simple. You can modified it to your liking. 

Ingredients
5 large tomatoes fresh tomatoes
2 medium or 1 extra large onion
6-8 garlic cloves
2 Tbls butter
1/8 tsp basil
1/4 cup water
1/4 tsp Salt
1/8 tsp Pepper

Chop tomatoes and set aside
Crush or finely chop garlic
Dice onions and set aside.
Heat a skillet, add butter tomatoes, onions and garlic
Saute ingredients about 3 minutes 
Add water, and seasonings
Cover with lid and let simmer about 15-20 minutes stirring occasionally.

Spoon tomatoes over a bowl of beans and serve warm.
